Amber has generated scalable approaches to the delivery of wireless services. Wireless service providers come to Amber with locations they want to provide service to and Amber supplies turnkey solutions for their needs. A space provider is any individual, company, or organization who registers their property’s unused space with Amber Networks for the purpose of leasing space to wireless service providers. Space providers earn substantial recurring revenue for decades
Despite the perception that ubiquitous cell phone coverage has already been reached, wireless carriers spend billions of dollars a year on new infrastructure. Demand continues to increase to support new subscribers, larger data transmissions (Video, pictures, mp3s. email), and the desires of their customers to stay connected. Even in areas where coverage exists from a carrier, capacity issues often need to be solved. Wireless sites can provide additional capacity in very specific areas at peak times without the significant expense of a traditional site. With the competition of dozens of existing wireless carriers within the United States providing services and handfuls of carriers with more than a million subscribers, these companies all have space needs for their equipment; partnering with Amber provides Space Providers the opportunity to capitalize on this competition and to generate fixed recurring revenue that was once reserved for tower owners and larger property owners
Amber is contracted by wireless service providers to provide turnkey solutions for their wireless siting needs. This includes delivery of secured real estate locations, system integration, remote monitoring, installations, and anything else they need. Amber is paid a fixed rate for this service on an ongoing basis per site, and compensates space providers based on their role accordingly.
Wireless carriers do acquire locations themselves, however do to the competitive nature of the industry, as well as the developments of specialization within the industry, often 3rd parties can be more time and cost effective than the carriers themselves. There are several areas where 3rd parties specialize including zoning, permitting, construction, site acquisition and aggregation, and neutral host solutions to name a few. Amber provides a scalable turnkey solution for wireless carriers so that they only need to say where and when.
No, Amber only installs at locations that are selected from our wireless customers, and Amber only involves contracted space providers with legitimate deployments in hand.
Revenue is available within 30 days after our customer has selected your location and the contract has been finalized.
Wireless sites enhance cellular coverage within a short distance of your property. Cell phone use has moved beyond a luxury in most places to a necessity. In areas, where cellular coverage is not present there is an unconscious feeling of vulnerability; cell phone coverage brings modern legitimacy and security to your customers. In certain venues, when cell phone coverage does not exist, your guests, customers, or visitors, may leave or go outside to use their phones. Cell phones are also used to get in touch with family, find missing items on a shopping list, and request emergency assistance. In the near future, with the increasing use of the Internet via cell phones, Bluetooth technology, and more educated/advanced users, stores have the opportunity to provide additional advertising, interactivity, and marketing via cell phones enhancing the customer’s experience.
Wireless service was once projected to be a niche market appealing to a maximum of 900,000 by the year 2000. There are more than 229 million wireless subscribers in America now. Source: CTIA The wireless industry is experiencing rapid growth and it is expected to see continued growth into the next decade. The nature of broadband wireless, network deployment and the increasing data rates require that wireless coverage areas will significantly increase in number and density due to limited spectrum and power and tower locations. While the demand for sites continues to grow, cities and zoning officials are becoming more and more restrictive. Amber Networks use of low impact radio devices has been recognized as a best practice solution and widely accepted by cities and authorities. This brings tremendous opportunity to match endless demand with realistic solutions. Amber Networks solutions are also cost effective opening entire new markets of areas to carriers even with populations under 5,000 making every location an opportunity.
Amber is contracted directly from a wireless service provider and pays a fixed recurring revenue to the space provider. Our customers will have a variety of revenue streams contributing to the profitability of a site. For wireless sites, revenue is accounted for based on their common wireless contracts with their customers. This pool of revenue is then used to support the growth of and improved service of their networks. Amber is paid a fixed amount to contribute to this growth, and the space provider is paid directly by Amber for its role in the process.
Amber Networks as well as the wireless providers monitor the locations 24/7 and know when service becomes a problem often before the end user does. Should a wireless user have a complaint they would contact the service provider directly to report the issue.
The service itself is supported by our wireless service provider customers under a variety of business models. If any such fees are charged, they are set by the wireless service providers.
No. The wireless service providers contract with us to provide coverage in specific areas. We are not retail and do not offer services directly to the end user.
Amber has performed several initial deployments with various customers totaling nearly 100 sites, and its management team has been responsible for more than 100,000 sites in their careers. Projected in 2008, deployments are expected in the hundreds and the following years in the thousands.
While we have established significant interest from very large service providers wanting to deploy in highly trafficked areas we cannot guarantee to resell wireless service on all, or any of the locations, and we cannot predict how long it will take until we can generate revenue for you. Remember, “if you don’t make money,…neither do we”, therefore we have a much aligned incentive to maximize your income.
Amber is sensitive to the idea of trying something new and getting it right for your specific location. While we can not provide a trial site for deployments due in part because our customers require specific locations as well as the expense of installations, backhaul, and coordination, this does not mean overnight we will just turn on all of your locations without proper testing. We are happy to do a location or a select few test cases before you accept installations across your complete portfolio. The first thing to do is to agree to allow us to market your locations, and provide a list of locations so that we can find that initial location that will satisfy all parties.
The wireless service provider will be the one who ultimately selects sites. This selection will be based on which venue best meets their needs for wireless coverage in a very precisely defined area, the physical profile and quality characteristics of the site, and the length of outstanding venue agreement.
Amber has a need for both indoor and outdoor locations. We will market all venues regardless of location. In general, outdoor locations are often preferred by both property owners and wireless carriers alike.
Amber is open to continually expanding our network of available sites for wireless providers via referrals and other methods. If you are interested in being an agent for us, please contact someone in the Real Estate department for further details
